Amalgam Removal

Amalgam is considered a problematic filling material because it contains toxic mercury. While it is inexpensive and durable, it is unhealthy and aesthetically unsatisfactory. Amalgam enhances free radicals, which can contribute to tissue and organ damage. Although dental amalgam fillings are not yet banned in Austria, due to a European Union regulation, dental amalgam cannot be used as a filling material for children and adolescents under 15 years old, as well as for pregnant women.

Amalgamentfernung

During the removal of amalgam fillings, mercury vapors are released from the amalgam alloy. Therefore, it is essential to take appropriate protective measures to reduce the concentration of vapors. Our team is specially trained for this purpose. As with all other treatments, we use magnification glasses in our practice to ensure that no amalgam residues are overlooked in the tooth.

Alternatives to Amalgam

Full-ceramic inlays are a durable, nearly invisible alternative. The inlays we use are biocompatible and well-tolerated.
